The US average weekly wage increased 3.3% year over year to $1,155 in the third quarter, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Among the 349 largest counties in the US, Chatham County in Georgia and King County in Washington state posted the largest year-over-year percentage increases in average weekly wages, with gains of 8.5% and 7.9% respectively. Within Chatham, an average weekly wage gain of $486, or 30.7%, in manufacturing made the largest contribution to the county’s increase in average weekly wages.

Elkhart County in Indiana had the largest year-over-year percentage decrease in average weekly wages with a loss of 4.2%.

Looking at just the 10 largest US counties, all posted increases in average weekly wages.
