ASA staffing index reaches highest value in nearly three years

November 22, 2017

The American Staffing Association’s staffing index rose to a reading of 101.09 in the week of Nov. 6 to Nov. 12, exceeding a value of 101 for the first time in nearly three years. Temporary and contract staffing employment was 1.11% higher than the prior week, despite survey respondents citing temporary-to-hire conversions, seasonal business fluctuations, and the Veterans Day holiday as factors that slowed the pace of growth.

Staffing employment was up 2.82% compared to the same week last year; both weeks included Veterans Day.

The index’s four-week moving average rose to 100.14, the strongest reading since December 2014. Year over year, the four-week average rose 1.86%.
