Companies using artificial intelligence to hire or promote workers in New York City must now submit those algorithms for an independent audit and make the results public, TechCrunch reported. The city’s new AI-in-hiring law came into effect today after months of delay. The law also mandates that companies using AI in hiring disclose to candidates the algorithms they are using as well an “average score” that candidates of different races, ethnicities and genders are likely to receive from algorithms.
