85% of US employees plan to quit in next six months

January 31, 2023

While professionals are seemingly satisfied with their jobs, they still plan to quit, according to a new report by Chicago-based staffing firm LaSalle Network. Its survey found 85% of US workers are considering leaving their jobs in the next six months.

The report surveyed more than 1,700 employed professionals across the US in October 2022 and January 2023 to gauge satisfaction levels and understand what keeps employees at their current companies and what is leading them to quit. LaSalle Network analyzed data comparing satisfaction sentiments between those with no plans to quit and those considering quitting in the next six months.

It found that 39% of managers are dissatisfied with their roles, compared to only 29% of staff-level employees. Meanwhile, 48% of those surveyed were satisfied with their company’s diversity, equity and inclusion; 47% with the sense of belonging; 45% with benefits; 44% with their salary; and 41% with training and development.

“This is a very important factor for companies to pay attention to in 2023, as staff retention efforts will lose impact if managers are disengaged,” the report noted.
