Hire Technologies Inc. (TSXV:HIRE.V) named Chris Backus as CEO effective Nov. 10, taking over from interim CEO Simon Dealy. The Toronto-based staffing provider also appointed Clive Brookes as director with the resignation of board member Bradley Scharfe.
Backus has experience in C-level corporate leadership at both public and private companies. His background also includes a 20-year career as a police officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where he earned specialized distinction as a negotiator, communications strategist and senior leader. He has also worked as a strategic advisor to the United Nations Department of Peace Operations.
New board member Brookes has been involved in the public markets for more than 30 years, according to the company. In addition to Brookes, other board members are Adam Ho and Jonson Sun.
Hire Technologies has made several changes this year. In August, the company announced the sale of its Provision IT staffing business to a unit of Design Group Staffing Inc. The company also announced the divestment of its Kavin Group operations in September. Earlier this year, it sold The Headhunters Recruitment Inc. back to the former owners of the operations.
The company announced a failure-to-file cease trading order in April.
