The European Commission approved The Adecco Group’s acquisition of Akka Technologies SE, a global engineering and consulting firm based in Brussels, Belgium.

“The commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the companies’ moderate combined market positions,” according to a report on the approval.

Adecco had announced the deal in July, saying it valued Akka at an enterprise value of €2.0 billion (US$2.36 billion). Adecco said the acquisition would make it the No. 2 player in the global engineering R&D market.

Media reports at the time said the acquisitions was the largest in Adecco’s history. Plans call for Adecco to combine Akka with its Modis business. It will create a combined workforce of 50,000 engineers and digital experts.

Akka Technologies had posted revenue of €1.50 billion in 2020.
