Global Pay Transparency Laws

  • Despite more than 50 years of equal pay legislation, the gender pay gap, which stands at an average of 20% worldwide according to the United Nations, persists
  • Multiple countries, including Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Iceland, Lithuania, UK and the US, already have transparency legislation or policies in place. Other federal, national and local governments are in the process of enacting laws, including the European Union (EU) which is currently approving a Pay Transparency Directive
  • This report gives an overview of pay transparency measures adopted by governments in some of the major staffing markets
