Almost 47 percent of the 92 staffing firms that made it on this year's fastest-growing list reported information technology staffing as one of their top segments, according to the 2013 List of Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms published by Staffing Industry Analysts. Additionally, nine of the 10 fastest-growing staffing firms reported IT staffing as a top segment.
To qualify for the list, companies had to show compound annual revenue growth of at least 15 percent between 2008 and 2012, starting from a base of at least $1 million.

Topping the chart is Intellect Resources, a Greensboro N.C.-based IT staffing firm that specializes in healthcare IT. President and CEO Tiffany Crenshaw talked to Staffing Industry Review about the power of specialization in a niche market — how it helped differentiate the company and fuel the 125 percent compound annual growth rate in the past five years. The story will come out in the September issue of Staffing Industry Review due out the beginning of September.
“We found a niche in healthcare IT and we understand that niche very well. As a result, we understand major IT initiatives inside hospitals,” Crenshaw said in an interview for the article. “I would also add that we’ve never been a bottom-line focused company. My business philosophy has always been if you take care of your employees, they will take care of your clients. And if your client is happy, the bottom line will be happy. It’s a philosophy that is unique and it works.”
This year’s list of fastest-growing staffing firms grew by 20 firms compared to last year. In 2012, 39 percent of the 72 firms on the list reported IT staffing to be their top segment. Seven of the top 10 firms last year were focused on IT staffing.
