Highlands Ventures acquires Chicago-based IT staffing provider

Chicago-based private equity firm Highlands Ventures LLC acquired Geneva Technical Services LLC, an IT consulting and staffing services firm also headquartered in Chicago, in a deal that closed Feb. 15. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

Highlands Ventures will gradually fold Geneva Technical Services into portfolio company Halo Group LLC, its flagship IT consulting firm based in Detroit. Key executives from Geneva Technical Services will remain with the company in their same roles.

This is Highlands Ventures’ second recent Chicago area acquisition; the private equity firm acquired Sonoma Consulting Inc., an IT consulting and executive search firm, in December.

“The Geneva Technical Services acquisition provides Highlands Ventures with a growth platform in the Chicago and Midwest markets, and will ultimately help further position Halo Group LLC as a leading high-end IT staffing and consulting company,” said Brent Rasmussen, managing partner of Highlands Ventures and CEO of Halo Group. “Geneva Technical Services will complement our current IT consulting business and further expand our capabilities on a national level. We warmly welcome the outstanding Geneva Technical Services professionals and we are excited to build upon our expansion into Chicago.”

Halo Group provides UX/UI, data and analytics, and cloud consultants as well as personnel in all areas of security, project governance and multi-platform application development. It is headquartered in Detroit, with additional offices in Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas.
