Medical Solutions acquires AI-based job marketplace

Medical Solutions, which ranks third on SIA's list of largest travel nurse staffing firms in the US, acquired Matchwell, an Al-based marketplace that matches healthcare facilities with clinicians.

The deal for a 100% stake in the Durham, North Carolina-based firm closed on July 5. The Matchwell management team will remain under the leadership of founder Robert Crowe. Matchwell will retain its brand name and operate under the Medical Solutions umbrella.

The acquisition expands Medical Solutions’ current portfolio of service offerings into the per diem and local markets and strengthens its total workforce solutions model.

“The acquisition of Matchwell aligns with our growth strategy and our vision of leading our industry,” Medical Solutions CEO Craig Meier said.

Meier noted that bringing Matchwell into Medical Solutions will enable the company to provide more opportunities and options for clinicians and increase its agility in meeting clients’ needs by providing them with a choice to fill positions locally as well as on a per diem basis.

“The innovative technology advancements Matchwell has achieved in this sector enable direct transparency between clinicians and clients, offering greater flexibility and providing a solution for our existing clients to better manage their internal clinician workforces.”

Launched in 2019, Matchwell has more than 50,000 on-platform clinicians and 1,000 care sites under contract.

Omaha, Nebraska-based Medical Solutions was founded in 2001 and has offices in San Diego; Cincinnati; Denver; Tampa, Florida; Jacksonville, Florida; and Tupelo, Mississippi. Medical Solutions was acquired by investment firms Centerbridge Partners LP and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in 2021.
