Nurses give midrange rating to facilities for support during Covid-19, but remain committed

When asked, nurses rated their current facility a 4.8 on a 10-point scale in terms of support provided for their mental health and well-being, according to survey results released by Trusted Health, a nurse staffing platform.

The emailed survey included 1,425 nurses, two-thirds of whom reported they were providing direct care to Covid-19 patients.

In addition, 95% of nurses said they felt that their mental health and well-being was either not a priority or that it was a priority but there were inadequate measures in place to support it.

Also, the survey found 81% of nurses reported being at least “slightly concerned” about contracting Covid-19; two-thirds were either “concerned” or “very concerned.”

Still, 79% said the Covid-19 crisis has not impacted their career plans and they remain as committed or even more committed to nursing than they were previously.

“The Covid-19 crisis has highlighted not only how indispensable nurses are, but also the ways in which the healthcare system is failing them,” said Dan Weberg, head of clinical innovation at Trusted Health. “And yet, despite all of this, they remain more committed to their work than ever.”
