Temp staffing revenue growth decelerates to median 5%, travel nurse segment at 8%: Pulse Report

Growth in temporary staffing revenue decelerated in October, according to the latest Pulse Survey released by Staffing Industry Analysts.

Year-over-year revenue growth in temporary staffing slowed to a median 5% in October, down from 7% reported in the previous Pulse Survey, which covered the month of August, and a further deceleration from 9% in June.

The travel nurse and IT staffing segments posted the largest median year-over-year revenue growth in October at 8% each, followed by locum tenens at 6%. Growth ranged from flat to 2% in all other segments.

Survey participants were also queried about bill rates; a net 38% of temporary staffing firms reported a net increasing trend in bill rates in October over the preceding three months. Looking forward, a net 46% expect an increasing trend over the next six months.

The Pulse Survey was conducted in November and is based on responses from 124 staffing firms.
