Healthcare prominent on list of fastest-growing staffing firms

Staffing Industry Analysts has released its 2017 report of fastest-growing US staffing firms, which contains our list of staffing firms with at least 15% compound annual organic growth in revenue from 2012 through 2016. This year, 110 firms made the list, and healthcare was the most well-represented segment with 35% of firms on the list noting it as their top segment. More remarkably, all of the five fastest-growing firms on the list noted healthcare as their top segment (Hayes Locums, Host Healthcare, Prolink, Dedicated Nursing Associates and Matrix Providers). Additionally, 11 of the 13 fastest-growing firms on the list were healthcare staffing companies. Clearly, the large growth in the healthcare staffing market in 2015 and 2016 has helped to create many larger healthcare staffing firms.

We have also released our 2017 report of the largest staffing firms in the US, which contains our list of 144 companies that generated at least $100 million in US staffing revenue in 2016. Of the 144 firms, there were 26 that noted healthcare as their largest segment, making it the third most popular segment among those companies listed, behind the industrial and IT segments. While the healthcare staffing market may have been the fastest-growing market recently, the industrial and IT segments are still much larger.

Last but not least, SIA has also released its 2017 report on the largest healthcare staffing firms in the US, which contains our list of 39 firms with at least $50 million in US temporary healthcare staffing revenue in 2016. AMN Healthcare was once again the largest healthcare staffing firm, with an 11% share of the temporary healthcare staffing market, by our estimates. This report also lists firms generating $25 million in revenue in each of the four subsegments of healthcare (per diem nurse, travel nurse, locum tenens, and allied health). Cross Country Healthcare topped the list of 13 per diem nurse firms. Thirty-one firms made the travel nurse list, of which AMN was the largest provider. CHG was the largest of the 16 locum firms listed, and AMN healthcare topped the list of the largest 27 allied health firms.

Many thanks to the staffing firms who offered their encouragement and assistance in this year's report process.
