The average time companies take to hire a candidate is 32 days and the average time to reject a candidate is 16 days, according to data from Oorwin, a Texas-based provider of front-office software to staffing firms.

To calculate the average time, Oorwin used the time from the initial call with the candidate to the final approval or rejection.

The study consisted of a randomized sample set of about 12,200 applicants from Oorwin’s platform. Oorwin noted the time to confirm a candidate ranges from 29.8 days to 35.6 days. The time to reject a candidate ranges from 13.8 days to 19.4 days.

“Considering that most candidates would have to serve about a month’s notice — we can safely say that companies should budget two months to get an employee onboard from first advertising the position,” said Ravi Daparthi, president and CTO of Oorwin.

Oorwin has customers in the US, India and Singapore.
