03 January 2024

The average income of Vietnamese workers increased by 6.9% in 2023 when compared to 2022, reports VNExpress, citing data from General Statistics Office. The average monthly figure stood at around VND 7.1 million (USD 291) by the end of 2023, up VND 459,000 (USD 18.84) from 2022. Male workers' average monthly income was VND 8.1 million (USD 332), while female workers was VND 6 million (USD 246).

In the fourth quarter of 2023 alone, workers' income reached VND 7.3 million (USD 299), an increase of VND 180,000 (USD 7.39) compared to the third quarter. The growth was attributed to the fact that businesses sped up production in the final months of the year, which helped increase workers’ incomes compared to previous periods. Overall, the average income of workers in the fourth quarter of 2023 increased in all economic zones. Meanwhile, around 51.3 million people had jobs across Vietnam last year, an increase of 683,000 people compared to 2022.
