Vietnam – Most companies plan to recruit or retain staff in Q3 and Q4 (VnExpress)

23 August 2022

The majority, or 88%, of enterprises in Vietnam plan to recruit or retain staff in the second half of the year, reports VnExpress, citing research from ManpowerGroup. The manufacturing, wholesale, retail, banking-finance, and professional consulting sectors are the sectors which are most looking to recruit staff. The survey focused on mid-career jobs and found nearly half of enterprises plan to hire people with at least six months’ experience. However, businesses are facing challenges with 57% saying they have difficulty in hiring. One of the challenges is that candidates do not have the soft skills they require, such as English proficiency. Nearly one in three companies said fewer than 10% of their employees have the necessary English skills to work. Meanwhile, up to 45% of surveyed employers said they intend to use seasonal or part-time workers in the next three to six months. The Vietnamese labor market is, from our perspective, bustling," Nguyen Xuan Son, ManpowerGroup Vietnam acting country operations manager, staffing and outsourcing services, said.
