23 April 2021

The Thai government is appealing to all sectors to comply with the new Covid-19 restrictions by supporting work-from-home programmes where possible, as the number of daily new cases reach record levels, reports Bangkok Post. Department of Disease Control director-general Opas Karnkawinpong emphasised the importance of work-from-home programmes to curb the spread of the virus after the Songkran holiday which ended last week. “We're concerned about community transmission in schools and workplaces. The work-from-home policy is important as we expect people to return to work on Monday. Please avoid gatherings, sharing of items and eating together," he said. According to Reuters, Thailand recorded 2,070 new coronavirus cases today, the highest since the pandemic started.
