Taiwan – Unemployment rate improves slightly to 3.64% in October

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.64% in October 2022, down 0.19% when compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics.

When compared to the previous month, the unemployment rate declined by 0.02%.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate fell over the year from 3.84% to 3.64%. On a monthly basis, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained constant at 3.64%.

The number of unemployed persons was 431,000 in October, a decrease of 2,000 (-0.51%) and 25,000 (-5.46%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.

Meanwhile, total employment increased by 13,000 (+0.12%) in October to 11.41 million; however, it decreased by 35,000 (-0.31%) when compared with that of the previous year.

When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture, the industry sector and the services sector decreased by 17,000 (-3.17%), 9,000 (-0.23%) and 9,000 (-0.13%) in October, respectively.

The country’s labour force participation rate rose by 0.01% to 59.18% in October; moreover, it also rose by 0.16% from that of the previous year.
