Taiwan – Seasonally adjusted jobless rate improves to 3.61% in December

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.61% in December 2022, down from 3.72% in December 2021, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics.

When compared to the previous month, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined by 0.03% to 3.61% in December 2022.

On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, Taiwan’s unemployment rate declined over the month by 0.09% to 3.52% in December. Compared with that of the previous year, the unemployment rate declined by 0.12% in December.

The number of unemployed persons was 418,000 in December, a decrease of 10,000(-2.34%) and 15,000(-3.46%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively

Meanwhile, total employment increased over the month by 21,000 (0.19%) in December to 11.45 million, however, it decreased by 29,000 (-0.26%) when compared with that of the previous year.

When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture and the industry sector decreased 16,000 (-2.96%) and 18,000 (-0.45%), respectively; however, the services sector increased by 5,000 (0.07%) in December.

Taiwan’s labour force participation rate declined by 0.03% to 59.17% in December; in contrast, it rose by 0.01% from that of the previous year.
