South Korea – Number of temporary employees down 1.7% in November, seasonally adjusted unemployment rate improves to 2.9%

The number of temporary workers in South Korea fell by 1.7% year over year to 4.76 million in November 2022, according to the latest data from Statistics Korea.

Compared to the previous month, the number of temporary workers in South Korea increased marginally by 0.06% in November.

Further labour market data from Statistics Korea showed that the unemployment rate marked 2.3% in November, down 0.3% year-on-year. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate also stood at 2.9% in November 2022. Down from 3.2% in November 2021 and up from 2.8% last month.

The number of unemployed persons totalled 666,000 in November, which fell by 68,000 or 9.3% year-on-year.

The number of employed persons totalled 28.421 million in November, which went up 626 thousand or 2.3% year-on-year.

The employment to population ratio recorded 62.7% in November, up 1.2% year-on-year.

The economically active population in South Korea marked 29.08 million persons in November, which grew by 558,000 persons or 2.0% year-on-year.

South Korea's labour force participation rate stood at 64.2% in November, up 1.1% year-on-year.
