Singapore – Online recruitment up 30% in August: Monster Employment Index

Online recruitment in Singapore grew by 30% in August 2021 when compared to August 2020, according to data from the Monster Employment Index.

The Monster Employment Index stood at 135 in August 2021 compared to 104 in August 2020.

Month-on-month, the index saw a decline of 2% in hiring activity.

Monster noted that in the last three months, an average growth of 2% was recorded.

Online hiring demand in August 2021 exceeded the August 2020 level in all of the 14 industries monitored by the index.

The IT, telecom/ISP and “business process outsourcing/IT enabled services” rose 40%; BFSI rose 38%; and “engineering, construction and real estate” rose 37%.

At the same time, online demand for professionals saw an upsurge annually for all of the 12 functional areas monitored by the index.

Legal professionals saw the steepest year-on-year growth, rising 61%. This was followed by increase in demand for “software, hardware, telecom, up 46%, and finance and accounts professionals, up 43%.

The index is a broad and comprehensive monthly and quarterly analysis of online job posting activity conducted by Monster.
