Singapore – Government appoints Adecco Singapore as first SGUnited Jobs and Skills Placement Partner

24 March 2021

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and Workforce Singapore (WSG) have appointed Adecco Personnel Pte Ltd (Adecco Singapore), as the first SGUnited Jobs and Skills Placement Partner.

The SGUnited Jobs and Skills Placement Partners initiative complements the government’s existing job matching efforts and aims to augment overall placement capacity.

With this appointment, local jobseekers who require more specialised assistance with their job search will now have an additional avenue to access professional career matching services and opportunities, catered to their skills and aspirations, Workforce Singapore states.

Established in Singapore since 1985, Adecco Personnel was selected through an open tender. Its appointment began on 22 March 2021 and will conclude in one year.

“In its capacity as a placement partner, Adecco will tap on its strong recruitment capabilities to career match and provide advisory to better showcase talent to employers,” Workforce Singapore states. “Adecco will also actively work with jobseekers to help them achieve greater success during their job search process. Finally, jobseekers will become part of the Adecco community in Singapore and will receive regular information on job opportunities, as well as career tips through workshops and Adecco’s digital platforms.”

Adecco’s foremost responsibility remains to recommend jobseekers who are a good fit for their client companies’ job positions. Beyond job matching, Adecco may also match jobseekers to qualifying traineeships and company attachments under the SGUnited Traineeships, SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways programmes and Workforce Sinagapore’s Attach and Train programme to help them acquire new skills and boost their employability.

Tan Choon Shian, Chief Executive of Workforce Singapore, said, “We empathise with the anxieties that jobseekers face during this difficult time, more so for the vulnerable groups. To expand our job matching capability, we recognise that employment agencies are key labour market intermediaries with specialised expertise in job matching that will help bridge the gap between employers and jobseekers. We certainly hope that jobseekers will make full use of such services to ease and shorten their job search duration.”

Betul Genc, Country Manager, Singapore at the Adecco Group, said, “We have long recognised the importance of public and private partnerships. Adecco has been working closely with governments around the world to support them in their manpower and labour initiatives. This appointment is another testament of our ability to tap on our strong employer network in Singapore and our success of supporting candidates in fulfilling their career ambitions. We look forward to playing our part for the more vulnerable group of jobseekers and support initiatives of having a strong local future-ready workforce in Singapore.”“Selected employment agencies that have demonstrated the ability to hire fairly will be appointed as placement partners, to help local jobseekers secure opportunities under the SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package,” Workforce Singapore stated.

The SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package aims to expand job, traineeship, and skills training opportunities to support Singaporeans affected by the economic impact of Covid-19.
