Online recruitment in the Philippines decreased by 15% in September 2020 when compared to September 2019, according to data from the Monster Employment Index.
On a month-on-month basis, the Index recorded an upsurge of 3%.
Online hiring demand in September 2020 exceeded September 2019 level in 2 of the 12 industries monitored by the Index.
Among the two industries that showed growth, BPO/ITES (business process outsourcing/IT-enabled services) grew by 3% and IT, Telecom/ISP (internet service provider) saw an increase of 1% when compared to the same period last year.
Hospitality (-44%), Retail (-40%) and Logistics, Courier/ Freight/ Transportation (-37%) saw the steepest annual decline.
Annual online demand for professionals fell in 8 of the 10 functional areas monitored by the Index.
Demand for software, hardware, telecom (4%) and customer service (3%) professionals registered an increase in September 2020 compared to September 2019.
Purchase/ Logistics/ Supply Chain (-46%), Marketing & Communications (-37%) and HR & Admin (-37%) saw the steepest decline among others, year-on-year.
The Index is a broad and comprehensive monthly and quarterly analysis of online job posting activity conducted by Monster.
