Philippines – Online recruitment down 1% in April: Monster Employment Index

Online recruitment in the Philippines decreased by 1% in April 2021 when compared to April 2020, according to data from the Monster Employment Index.

The Monster Employment Index (MEI) decreased to 118 in April 2021 from 119 in April 2020. On a month-on-month basis, the Index recorded a decline of 6%.

Online hiring demand in April 2021 exceeded April 2020 levels in seven of the 12 industries monitored by the Index.

Logistics, Courier/Freight/ Transportation (+47%), IT, Telecom/ISP (+21%) and BPO/ITES (business process outsourcing/IT enabled services) (+12%) were the industries to record growth among all monitored industries in April 2021 from the year-ago level.

Hospitality (-36%), Consumer Goods/ FMCG (-13%), Retail (-10%) and Healthcare (-9%) saw the sharpest annual declines.

Software, Hardware, Telecom (+17%), Finance & Accounts (+9%) and Customer Service (+5%) reflected notable growth among all monitored functional areas in April 2021 from the year-ago level.

Hospitality & Travel (-18%), Purchase/ Logistics/ Supply Chain (-8%), Healthcare (-5%) and Marketing & Communications (-1%) saw the steepest decline among others, year-on-year.

The Index is a broad and comprehensive monthly and quarterly analysis of online job posting activity conducted by Monster.
