Online recruitment in the Philippines increased by 17% in August 2021 when compared to August 2020, according to data from the Monster Employment Index (MEI).

The MEI increased to 127 in August 2021 from 109 in August 2020.

Online recruitment activity recorded an increase of 2% month on month.

Online hiring demand in August 2021 exceeded August 2020 level in 10 of the 12 industries monitored by the Index.

Logistics, Courier/Freight/Transportation (+39%), IT, Telecom/ISP (Internet Service Provider) (+35%) and Advertising, Media Relations/Public Relations), and Media & Entertainment (+29%) were the industries that saw the highest growth among all monitored industries in August 2021 from the year-ago level.

At the same time, Hospitality (-19%) and Consumer Goods/ FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) (-2%) were still seen impacted in hiring activity.

Meanwhile, annual online demand for professionals saw growth in 9 of 10 functional areas as monitored by the Index.

Marketing & Communications (+43%), Software, Hardware, Telecom (+38%) and Finance & Accounts (+38%) recorded growth among all monitored functional areas in August 2021 from the year-ago level.

Over the year, Hospitality & Travel (-3%) was the only function to record a decrease.
