Personnel appointments: OECD, Technopro

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has appointed Alvaro Santos Pereira as the next Chief Economist with effect from 1 June 2024.

Pereira is an economist who served as Portugal’s Minister for Economy and Employment from 2011-2013, with responsibility for the areas of industry, commerce and services, tourism, energy and public works, transportation, and employment.

He was first appointed as the Director of country studies in the OECD Economics Department on 1 March 2014 overseeing the peer review process for the Organisation’s Economic Surveys, identifying challenges, and developing recommendations to help improve Member and Partner countries’ long-term economic performance. He has acted as the OECD’s Chief Economist on two occasions, most recently in the period from July 2022 to May 2023. In October 2023, he was appointed Director of the Policy Studies branch of the Economics Department.

In his new role, he will lead economic analysis and policy advice to support members to optimise the strength and the quality of economic development and growth.

Japan-based technology staffing firm TechnoPro Holdings announced that Futoshi Kitagawa, president and representative director of subsidiary TechnoBrain, is retiring with effect from 31 March 2024. Takanobu Kamo will take over the role. Kamo is currently a director for TechnoBrain. TechnoBrain provides placement services focused on engineers, recruitment process outsourcing.
