Job ads on job board Seek New Zealand were up by 42% in January 2022 when compared to January 2021 and up 33% when compared to January 2019.

When compared to the previous month, job ads were up 9%. Applications per job ad increased 0.4% over the month and were down 42% compared to the same month two years ago.

By region, year-on-year job ads growth was highest in Taranaki (66%), followed by Southland (63%). When compared to 2019, the highest job ads growth was seen in Northland (91%). Over the month, the highest growth was seen in Canterbury (13%).

By industry, year-on-year job ads growth soared in Hospitality and Tourism (67%). When compared to 2019, job ads growth was highest in the Healthcare and Medical industry (68%). Over the month, the industry with the biggest growth was Trades and Services (10%) and Sales (10%).
