New Zealand – Seasonally adjusted number of filled jobs rises 0.8% in September quarter

The seasonally adjusted number of filled jobs in New Zealand during the September 2022 quarter was up 0.8%, or 17,061 jobs, from the previous quarter ended in June, according to data released today by Stats NZ.

By industry, the largest changes in seasonally adjusted filled jobs were in:

  • Transport, postal and warehousing – up 2.9% (2,470 jobs)
  • Manufacturing – up 1.0% (2,150 jobs)
  • Administrative and support services – up 1.6% (1,524 jobs)
  • Education and training – up 0.7% (1,404 jobs)
  • Wholesale trade – up 1.1% (1,203 jobs)

By region, the largest changes in seasonally adjusted filled jobs were in:

  • Auckland – up 0.8% (6,065 jobs)
  • Canterbury – up 0.8% (2,351 jobs)
  • Waikato – up 0.9% (1,988 jobs)
  • Bay of Plenty – up 0.9% (1,229 jobs)
  • Otago – up 1.0% (1,017 jobs)

The total actual number of filled jobs in the September 2022 quarter was 2.19 million.
