Job ads on job board Seek New Zealand surged by 27% in August 2022 when compared to August 2022.

When compared to July 2022, job ads were up by 5%. Meanwhile, applications per job ad edged up 11% over the previous month.

By region, Otago reported 72% growth, over the year. Taranaki saw 60% year-on-year growth. When compared to the previous month, Taranaki saw the biggest growth at 24%. At the other end, Canterbury reported a 1% decline over the month.

By industry, Hospitality and Tourism saw the biggest year-on-year growth at 175%. Retail and Consumer Products came in second at 63%.

When compared to the previous month, Hospitality and Tourism reported 36% month-on-month growth while Retail and Consumer Products reported a 12% increase. Information and Communication Technology saw a decline of 3% over the previous month.
