Job ads across New Zealand fell by 13% in February 2023 compared to February 2022, according to the latest research by Seek New Zealand.
By industry, job ads fell the most in the ICT sector at -34%. This was followed by Healthcare and Medical (-24%). On the other hand, the Hospitality industry reported an increase of 69% year-on-year.
By region, Hawkes Bay reported a -27% decline over the year. This was followed by Tasman (-20%). Meanwhile, Marlborough saw an increase of 15% over the year, while Otago also reported an increase of 15%.
On a monthly basis, job ads in New Zealand ticked up by 1% in February. At the same time, applications per job ad fell by 7% over the month.
By region, Marlborough led monthly growth with an increase of 12%, while the biggest decline over the month was seen in Hawkes Bay (-15%).
The Construction industry saw an 11% rise in job ads over the month, the highest across industries, according to Seek. Meanwhile, Accounting job ads fell by -7% over the month.
