New Zealand-based recruitment firms Potentia and Crew Technology Recruitment have announced their decision to merge.

The merger aims to establish the largest national technology recruitment agency in New Zealand and aims to redefine the technology recruitment landscape across both the North and South Islands.

Both Potentia and Crew Technology Recruitment will continue to operate under their established brands, with no changes to their names or leadership teams.

Crew said it shares Potentia's commitment to fostering the technology community and building lasting relationships with clients and candidates alike.

Potentia was launched in 2004 as a specialist technology recruitment agency. Crew specialises exclusively in IT & Digital recruitment in New Zealand.

Potentia stated, “While Potentia has built up a strong brand in the North Island over the last couple of decades, it was practically non-existent down South with no boots on the ground.”

The group said that with Crew merging with Potentia, it now has most of the country's tech hubs covered from four offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

“We've been wanting to expand our footprint and enter the South Island market for quite some time, and joining forces with Crew allows us to enter the space without having to go through the difficult task of building up the Potentia brand from scratch in a new region. And with Crew having such an established brand in the South Island market already, it was a win-win,” Potentia stated.

Potentia managing director, Guy Day, told Scoop.co.nz, “Having successfully operated in the North Island for almost 20 years, it was a natural next step for us to expand our footprint down South. When the opportunity came to talk to Crew, it was a no-brainer for us to make this happen, especially with them already having such an established presence in the South Island.”
