Malaysia – Online job vacancies up 7.3% in Q4

The number of job vacancies advertised online posted a year-on-year increase of 7.3% during the fourth quarter of 2022 in Malaysia, according to the latest statistics from the Department of Statistics Malaysia.

On a quarterly basis, the number of job vacancies advertised online increased by 7.5% resulting in 204,420 vacancies.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the statistics show professionals made up the largest composition of vacancies at 42.8%. This was followed by technicians and associate professionals at 18.1%, while managers came in at 12.5%.

By economic activity, wholesale and retail trade registered the highest vacancies at 30.4%, followed by manufacturing at 13.2%.

The Department notes that 13 states observed increased vacancies compared to the third quarter, with W.P. Kuala Lumpur showing the highest number of vacancies at 77,326.
