Japanese Local Revitalisation Plans (Nippon)

13 November 2023

Japan's Internal Affairs Ministry aims to allocate funds to promote a programme where companies can dispatch their employees to local governments to help revitalise regional communities. As reported by Nippon.com.

The Ministry has earmarked the necessary funds in a fiscal 2023 supplementary budget plan. Under the programme to be launched in 2024, employees of companies headquartered in the three metropolitan areas of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya can be dispatched by their employer to local municipalities. These workers remain employed by the dispatching company and will not be required to change their resident registration.

In addition, local governments will pay labour costs and other expenses to companies dispatching employees, which are to be covered by special subsidies from central government.
