Japan – SMS Co H1 revenue rises 6.9% as profits rally

SMS Co. Ltd. (2175:TYO), a recruitment firm specialising in the elder and medical care fields, reported revenue last Friday rose 6.9% in the first half of its fiscal year ended 30 September 2021.

Profit jumped by 22.7%.

The group’s Career segment, which includes Elderly Care Career and Medical Care Career, fell by 2%. The Covid-19 pandemic impacted these two segments.

The group’s Overseas segment grew by 36%. SMS’s medical platform business grew significantly owing to the expanding demand for digital services such as online events, along with the digital transformation accelerated by the pandemic.

Looking ahead, the company forecasted revenue of JPY 40.04 billion (USD 351.65 million).

SMS shares closed on Friday at JPY 4,420 (USD 38.82), down 1.2% on the day. The company has a market cap of JPY 397.31 billion (USD 3.48 billion).
