Japan – Recruit Holdings taps Indeed leader as next CEO

14 January 2021

Recruit Holdings Co. Ltd., the largest staffing firm in Japan, appointed Hisayuki Idekoba, who led the company’s acquisition of jobs website Indeed, as president, CEO and representative director effective from 1 April 2021.

Idekoba presently serves as executive VP, chief operating officer and director at Recruit. He is also a board member at Indeed and had served as Indeed’s CEO from 2013 to 2019.

Idekoba will take over from Masumi Minegishi, who will step down as president and CEO to become chairperson and representative director.

Minegishi said 1 April, as the start of the company’s next fiscal year, is the most appropriate time to pass the baton.

“Hisayuki led the acquisition of Indeed Inc. in 2012 and successfully grew the company as its CEO,” Minegishi said. “He took initiative to transform the entire group as executive vice president and COO of Recruit Holdings this year.”

Idekoba said he was grateful to Minegishi and the Recruit board.

“Since its founding 60 years ago, Recruit Group has been evolving in order to meet the changing needs of society,” Idekoba said. “In confronting these needs we have always considered it important to ask, ‘Is there a better way to do this?’ and that is exactly what we are trying to answer through our businesses. I believe there is still much to do in pursuit of Recruit’s mission to provide ‘opportunities for life.’”
