Japan – Pasona Group upgrades second quarter forecast due to better than expected BPO demand

30 November 2021

Pasona Group Inc. (2168:TYO), a Tokyo-based staffing firm, announced a revision to its forecast for the second quarter ended 30 November 2021.

The group had previously forecast revenue of JPY 171.00 billion (USD 1.51 billion), but it has now upgraded its revenue forecast to JPY 180.00 billion (USD 1.59 million).

Operating income was raised to JPY 12.00 billion (USD 106.23 million) from the previously forecasted 8.50 billion while net income was also upgraded to JPY 4.50 billion (USD 39.83 million).

The group said that despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it saw continuous demand for Business Process Outsourcing services during the quarter. Dispatched labour (Expert services segment) also continued to recover and Pasona added that it reported a favourable performance from other business segments which led to the revision in the forecast.

Regarding the full-year consolidated earnings forecast, demand for BPO services will continue to be strong. However, there are still concerns about the Covid-19 pandemic so the full-year consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending May 2022 will remain unchanged.
