Japan – Pasona Group to acquire HR services firm Kanden Joinus Co., Ltd

01 December 2022

Japanese staffing firm Pasona Group announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Kanden Joinus Co., Ltd, an HR services firm based in Japan that also provides temporary staffing services.

Kanden Joinus Co., Ltd is a subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.

Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. will transfer its outstanding shares of Kanden Joinus to Pasona Group on 5 January 2023.

Kanden Joinus provides comprehensive human resources services, including temporary staffing services, mainly for office work-related jobs, for a wide range of customers in the Kansai Electric Power Group and other areas of Osaka and Kansai. In the outsourcing business, in addition to data entry for the private sector, operation of contact centers, etc., the group is also widely developing services for the public such as the operation of public facilities.

According to Kansai, Kanden Joinus has been ‘mostly profitable’ since the company was established in 1998, but the group has decided to sell the subsidiary to focus on optimising management resources.

In the past, many large Japanese firms/conglomerates owned their own in-house staffing businesses though this is less the case today with a number having being acquired by staffing firms,

By acquiring the shares of Kanden Joinus, the Pasona Group will inherit the stable trading base backed by the strong brand power of the Kansai Electric Power Group.

“We will create synergies with services and expand HR/BPO services in the Kansai area, where various new demands are expected in preparation for the 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo,” Pasona Group stated.

Financial details were not disclosed.
