Japan – Nisso Corporation H1 revenue down 10.4% as profits tumble

Nisso Corporation (6569: TYO), a Japanese human resources firm providing staffing services, reported revenue today of JPY 32.97 billion (USD 319.2 million) for the first six months ended 30 September 2020, a fall of 10.4% compared to the same period last year.

The group said the coronavirus pandemic had an impact on demand for its services.

Nisso operates in two segments: its human resources and other business. The integrated talent service business operates a manufacturing talent service, such as manufacturing dispatching and manufacturing contracting, as well as administrative talent service, such as general office dispatching and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). The Other business operates nursing care and welfare projects, such as facility nursing care and home care.

According to SIA’s Largest Staffing Firms in Japan report, Nisso Group was the 15th largest staffing firm in Japan based on revenue.

Looking ahead, the company upgraded its forecasted revenue to JPY 67.0 billion (USD 648.8 million) for the year ended March 2021. The upgrade was due to the recovery and improvement of the manufacturing services segment.

Shares in Nisso Corp closed at JPY 820.00 (USD 7.94), up 3.67% on the day and 140.47% above the 52 week low of 341.00 (USD 3.30) set on 6 April 2020. The company has a market cap of JPY 26.54 billion (USD 257.0 million).
