Japan – Companies look to older workers amid labour shortage (Nikkei Asia)

18 October 2021

A tight labour market is prompting some Japanese companies to keep people past their retirement age, Nikkei Asia reported. In one example, electronics store Nojima has removed its age limit of 80 and is open to hiring new workers over that age. Nojima currently has 10 full-time employees that are 75 and older. These staff members earn USD 1,056 a month for five hours a day over a four-week day.
