Japan – Careerlink revenue and profits soar due to strong sales in BPO business

Revenue at Japan-based staffing firm Careerlink (6070: JP) rose 39.9% year over year in the nine months ended 30 November 2020 to JPY 22.05 billion (USD 142.6 million).

Careerlink offers temporary and contract services but reports revenue according to four segments; BPO, customer relationship management (CRM), general office staffing services and technology manufacturing business. The company ranks as the 28th largest staffing firm in Japan, according to SIA’s Largest Staffing Firms in Japan and Market Overview report.

The group said its results were impacted by the pandemic, however it added that it received more BPO (business process outsourcing) orders than expected. Earlier this week, the group upgraded its forecast in part due to the BPO orders.

Looking ahead, the company forecasted revenue of JPY 29.66 billion (USD 285.18 million) for the year ended February 2021.

Shares in Careerlink closed at JPY 2,229.00 (USD 21.43), down 0.93% on the day and 6.54% below its 52-week high of JPY 2,385.00 (USD 22.93), set on 30 December 2020. The company has a market cap of JPY 28.28 billion (USD 271.91 million).
