India-based online higher education company upGrad announced that it acquired recruitment and staffing firm Rekrut, also based in India.

Rekrut India will be a 100% subsidiary of upGrad, but will continue to operate independently, with Ajay Shah continuing as the managing director.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Rekrut’s deep expertise, pioneering products, extensive network and patented technology reduces the complexity of the recruitment process and ensures that organisations always stay ahead of change.

In a joint statement, upGrad co-founders Ronnie Screwvala, Mayank Kumar, and Phalgun Kompalli, said, “Rekrut will now open the floodgate of career opportunities for upGrad learners. Founded in 2015, upGrad provides programs in data science, technology, management and law, to students, working professionals and enterprises.
