India – ManpowerGroup CEO sees promise and opportunity in India

27 August 2014

In an interview with the Economic Times of India, CEO of ManpowerGroup Mr Prising spoke about the current recruitment environment in India and the country’s high growth potential.

“Our third quarter 2014 Manpower Employment Outlook Survey of over 5,000 employers across India indicates that Indian employers anticipate a vigorous hiring pace. In fact, Indian employers report the strongest hiring intentions globally. Opportunities for jobseekers are expected to grow even stronger as emphasis is placed on improving business growth and employment generation,” he explained.

“Globally, employers continue to be plagued by skills shortages. ManpowerGroup’s 2014 Talent Shortage Survey shows that 36% of employers are having difficulty filling jobs. This percentage has increased for the second consecutive year and is at its highest level since 2007.”

“India is far from immune to these pressures: 64% of Indian employers report such difficulties, second only to Japan and Peru and a three percentage-point rise from 2013. This is a critical issue that needs to be addressed, as access to talent is key to business success in the Human Age.”

“These pervasive talent shortages are impeding employers’ ability to deliver value for their customers and reducing their competitiveness and productivity. Companies need to work to ensure the talent sustainability of their organisations, developing and harnessing the skills required to meet their business objectives.”

Despite these hurdles, Mr Prising is optimistic about the development of the Indian staffing market: “There is lot of promise and a lot of opportunity. I am not a specialist in the Indian economy or certainly not on its political environment. But as Manpower Group India, I am extremely bullish.”

“ManpowerGroup’s Indian contingent staffing business has witnessed tremendous growth in the financial year 2013-14. The main focus areas is expanding business in IT professional staffing, that is, growing our Experis brand as demand for hard-to-find IT talent continues to increase.”

“In addition, we are focusing on our Manpower-Group Solutions offerings such as TAPFIN MSP (Managed Service Provider), which helps organisations optimise their contingent workforce management and drive performance through people, process and technologies.”

“Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) is another significant area of focus as more and more companies look to an expert partner to drive their talent sourcing, selection, and on-boarding processes,” he concluded.
