India – Majority of employers keen to increase their apprentices intake in March quarter (The Indian Express)

14 March 2023

At least 79% of employers in India are keen to increase their apprentices’ intake in the January to March 2023 quarter, reports The Indian Express, citing a report by TeamLease. According to the TeamLease’s report (January to March 2023), 79% of employers are foreseeing increasing their apprentice intake during Q4 (January to March) against 77% of employers in the second half of the calendar year 2022 (H2 2022). Meanwhile, approximately 37% of employers said they are willing to increase their intake as ‘apprentices are real time skilled talent available in the market,’ the survey stated. Additionally, 23% of employers feel that apprentices also help to unlock business growth opportunities.

The overall Net Apprenticeship Outlook (NAO), an analysis of employers willing to increase minus employers willing to decrease, stands at 66%, TeamLease added. As overall employers project a positive outlook, the NAO for the fourth quarter is 3% less than in H2 2022, the report stated.
