India – Jobs and networking site apna announces USD 100 million funding round

Apna, a Bengaluru, India-based company that provides an app to enable workers to connect with jobs and network, announced a USD 100 million Series C funding round this week. The funding round values the company at USD 1.1 billion.

“These funds will be fuelling apna’s rocketship to accelerate our mission of connecting people with job opportunities, hire best in class talent, and scale across India and beyond,” the company said in a tweet.

TechCrunch reported Apna is only 22 months old and is focused on blue- and grey-collar workers in India, helping them learn new skills and land jobs. The company claims to be India’s leading professional app and was valued at just $570 million in a Series B funding round in June.

Investors taking part in apna’s Series C funding ground included Tiger Global, Owl Ventures, Insight Partners, Sequoia India, Lightspeed India, GSV Venters, Greenoaks Capital, Rocketship VC and Maverick Capital.
