25 November 2020

Hiring in India recovered climbed 30% on the year in September, as businesses and companies continue to reopen, reports The Tribune India, citing data from global professional services platform LinkedIn. Earlier in the year, hiring declines reached a low of below -50% year-on-year in April, before starting to slowly recover. In late July, it crossed the 0% mark and continued increasing, reaching 12% in August and 30% at the end of September. “Competition for jobs is lower compared to several months ago, but still 30% higher compared to a year ago," the report stated. However, after nearly doubling in the middle of 2020, the applications per job dropped down 1.3 times in August and stayed at a similar level in September. LinkedIn also noted that compared to pre-Covid, LinkedIn still sees that job seekers who are currently in the badly affected sectors (such as recreation and travel) are 4.2 times more likely to look for jobs in a different sector, compared to pre-Covid
