India – Great Learning acquires university recruitment platform Superset

23 February 2022

India-based Great Learning, a provider of online professional and higher education, has acquired Superset, a university recruitment platform based in India.

The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

“Great Learning's skill-based professional learning offerings and Superset's cutting-edge solutions for campus placements and corporate recruitment will empower India’s vibrant workforce to keep pace in the competitive global economy and provide greater accessibility to job opportunities,” Great Learning said in a statement.

Superset enables colleges to automate end-to-end campus placements, helps employers hire young talent from across colleges in the country, and allows students to access opportunities democratically, according to the company.

For employers, it provides end-to-end virtual campus hiring. It allows universities to digitise and automate placements online.

Superset will continue to operate under the leadership of its co-founders Naman Agrawal and Pranjal Goswami, Great Learning stated. Blume Ventures, which backed Superset, will exit the company as part of the deal.

With backing from Great Learning and India-based education tech firm Byju’s, Superset will accelerate its growth in India while also expanding its offerings to students and recruiters, the company said.

Founded in 2013, Great Learning was acquired by Byju’s in 2021. Great Learning offers industry-relevant programs in high-growth areas.

Mohan Lakhamraju, founder and CEO, Great Learning, said Superset has created an efficient way for employers to find talent and Great Learning is all about helping talent and employers find each other through skill development.

“That is where the synergy comes in as together, we can address the messy affair involved in campus hiring more efficiently and create a level playing field for all companies," Lakhamraju told LiveMint.

Naman Agrawal and Pranjal Goswami, co-founders, Superset told The Times of India, We are excited to join forces with Great Learning and accelerate our vision of empowering India’s youth with relevant skills and jobs to make us a future-ready nation. Furthermore, as higher education moves online, we will combine our strengths in technology, to provide students with access to opportunities democratically.”
