India – Clicks and job postings up in most sectors but aviation still lagging

According to a report in The Indian Express, which looks at clicks for job searches and job postings on Indeed, there has been a mixed bag of growth since last year.

Among the positives: clicks for childcare jobs were up 173% y/y in September, social sciences (+88%), MedTech (+61%), chemical engineering (+56%), agriculture (+55%) and finance (+43%). Allied healthcare continues to do well, with clicks in therapy up 47% and medical/dental up 42%. Additionally, education jobs were in high demand as schools open up; clicks for teaching-related roles were up 34%. Similarly, with offices opening, HR-related jobs were up 9%. Clicks for personal care industry-related roles were up 50%.

Job postings for customer service/customer relations roles were up 36%. Postings for tech info were up 20%, tech help 15%, and tech software 14%. Functional engineering postings were up 43%, HR (+33%), finance (+32%), and retail (+30%).

These increases are a reflection of recovering economic activity, but not all sectors have benefited. Large declines were seen in clicks for aviation jobs (down 37% y/y), media (-20%), drivers (-16%), marketing (-13%), hospitality (-11%), transport (-10%), and admin (-10%).

Insurance job postings were down 41%, and other postings that decreased significantly included drivers (-37%), construction (-35%), media (-30%), and installation roles (-30%).
