India – Blue collar hiring sees significant uptick (The Economic Times)

25 October 2021

Blue collar hiring in India is seeing a significant uptick across job categories, especially in the delivery and retail segments, reports The Economic Times, citing data from Qjobs, Quess Corp’s blue collar jobs app. The research saw a 320% growth in overall new job openings added in the blue collar hiring market during Q2 (July-September) compared to the previous quarter, with a concentration on the jobs in the retail and delivery segments. There were 540,000 active job openings on the platform, with the top job categories including delivery and driver, BPO/customer care, retail/counter sales, data entry/back office and field sales.

“The recovery of the labour market in India is being led by the blue collared workforce, who were drastically affected by the pandemic. We are optimistic that this demand will shoot up further in the coming months due to festive hiring,” Sekhar Garisa, president, emerging business and chief strategy officer, Quess Corp, said.
