Hong Kong – Majority of businesses prioritise employee wellbeing (Hong Kong Business)

The majority, 85%, of Hong Kong employers believe that employee wellbeing is the heart of the business agenda, reports Hong Kong Business, citing a survey of 1,350 participants across 19 markets from global technology services company NTT. Meanwhile, working at home during the pandemic has been challenging for most (80%) of employees. They cited connectivity and workspace issues, as well as feelings of isolation as main contributors to their concerns. At least 32.5% of businesses have changed their IT policy to help employees work within a new operating model and 35% have deployed new communication and productivity tools. Moreover, 70% of companies surveyed believe that employees prefer to have the choice to work in an office when it’s safe to do so, whilst 92.5% agree that face-to-face meetings are essential. The report findings also show that 27.5% of local businesses are reviewing their general office designs and how to best align with employees’ new needs. Most execs agree that physical space will have a more defined, flexible use to provide for a more collaborative environment, with 57.5% to install video conferencing spaces, 40% to develop creative spaces, 20% to reduce individual office desk spaces, and 17.5% to increase meeting spaces.
