China is launching its annual recruitment drive of college graduates with a goal of creating 12 million urban jobs this year to combat unemployment among its younger workforce and develop its economy, Reuters reported, citing the official Xinhua news agency. The recruitment drive will be hosted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and starts on Sunday until 26 May. The target of 12 million urban jobs this year is up from last year’s goal of at least 11 million. The National Bureau of Statistics data showed the country’s survey-based jobless rate was 5.6% in February, but for 16-24-year-olds it was 18.1%.
